Its beginning to look a lot like..the twilight zone?

Is it me or was yesterday the weirdest day ever? The weather was rainy and glum and the constant cloud cover made it feel like nighttime all day. I was in a constant state of confusion and fell asleep several times in class. I was also wearing two jackets cause it was freezing. I definitely don't love days like that. I do love fall though so I need to enjoy it while its here. If anyone else is feeling depressed by this odd weather don't worry, I have come up with some of the k3y three's favorite ways to get into the holiday spirit and out of the twilight zone.

(1) Scented Candles

Everyone likes to walk into a house that smells like pumpkin spice, caramel apples, or cinnamon. I know I do. I personally like to light them all over the place, just don't forget they're lit or your house will probably catch fire. Candles create a warm yummy smelling atmosphere that screams snuggle up. I would recommend checking out Bath and Body Works holiday candles.

(2) Paper Chain

How many days until Christmas? How are you gonna know if you don't have a paper chain counting down the days? Its useful to have one of these easy to make chains hanging in your bedroom so that you know exactly how much time you have to buy presents, eat candy canes, and lose sleep over excitement. Don't forget to remove 1 link per day so you get excited as Christmas gets closer and closer.

(3) Baked Goods

Baking around the holidays brings people closer together. Thats a fact. Pies, ginger bread cookies, sugar cookies, trifles, fruitcake, cheesecake, toffee, pudding, fudge, eggnog, custard, cupcakes, tarts, homemade ice cream, peppermint hot fudge sundaes, and holiday parfaits are just some of the delicious treats the holiday season has to offer. Throw on an apron, grab a couple besties, and bake to your hearts content. Check out Martha Stewart's holiday recipes for ideas! http://www.marthastewart.com/photogallery/holiday-desserts

(4) Holiday Movies

While you're smelling your scented candle, taking a link out of your paper chain, and enjoying your freshly baked sugar cookies, why not snuggle up to a fave holiday flick. Movies make us laugh and make us cry, but around the holidays, they put us in the spirit. Some of the k3y three's personal favorites are of course, The Holiday, Home Alone, The Grinch, Elf, A Christmas Story, The Santa Clause, A Christmas Carol, Miracle on 34th street, The Nightmare Before Christmas, The Family Man, and It's A Wonderful Life, to name a few. Snuggle up with a soft blanket, a cup of cocoa, and your best friends and start a marathon!

(5) Holiday Apparel

Whether you're preparing to build a snowman, kiss someone under a mistletoe, or eat thanksgiving dinner, wearing something that says "I'm a fan of the holidays" is essential to spreading cheer. You want to give off the right vibe and there are several subtle or not so subtle ways of doing this through the clothing you wear. For November I suggest easing into things with some festive socks. You might be the only one who can see them, but thats okay, cause every time you take off your shoes that day they'll make you smile and get you in the spirit. Along with socks you can start to wear scarves, hats, mittens, boots, coats, tights, and sweaters. My motto is: After thanksgiving day anything goes. Literally. This is when the serious holiday attire comes out of your closet and into your life. I'm talking, Christmas sweaters with blinking lights, red and white striped tights, throw in a Santa hat if you feel like you need to, it doesn't matter as long as you're excited and ready to spread cheer.

Well, those are our 5 holiday tips to help you get into the spirit. Hopefully you'll try a few out and remember, don't let the twilight zone get you down, stay cheerful, i'm sure there will be more tips to come!

Happy Bestfriending!
