Blast from the past

After a nice long Thanksgiving break, there is literally nothing worse than returning to the daily grind of school, work, and responsibilities. I'm gonna go out on a limb and just guess that you probably agree with me. Sitting at work with a head set on is kind of like a dog that is tied to the leg of a table during dinner time, or possibly a tree, in a park, on a beautiful day. I want to run free. If I tried though, I'd probably give myself whip lash and get tangled in the cords of my head set. Thats kind of how I'm feeling right now, so I decided that I need something funny/anything that's not work to cheer me up. If you just realized that it's only Tuesday, you'll probably need this too. What's better than a good blast from the past to cure those last day of November blues. Yes, your favorite best friends were once experiencing the joys of adolescence, and we enjoyed them together. Enjoy this, these are privileged pictures.

Lets start at the beginning, when the k3y three was new. When we were young, carefree, and of course, besties. Keep in mind, acne is cool.

I hope you enjoyed that collection of pictures from yester-year, and at least had a few laughs. I know I did. Remember, life is better with a couple besties. Too true.

Giving Some Thanks...

It's no secret that the K3y Three thrives off of celebrating Christmas, and we couldn't be more excited for it this year! However, I think it's important not to overlook Turkey Day. We know that we have a lot to be thankful for: our families, friends, church, country, jobs, schools, harry potter, etc. And with this post I would like to express my gratitude for...

My besties! :)
(this IS a best friend blog..)

I love my best friends more than life itself. Seriously, I don't know where on earth I would be without them. We're all so much alike, but I'd like to share with you all why I'm grateful for both of them individually!

Hannah:

Hannah is the greatest best friend in the world, that's all there is to it. She does so much for me and i'm SO lucky to have her in my life! I'm thankful for her loving personality. She's so sweet and caring and I know that she would do absolutely anything for me. I'm thankful for the first day of school back in 7th grade when she talked to me in english class. I still remember how upsetting and terrifying it was to be the new girl at school, and the fact that she befriended me is a perfect example of how nice she is to everyone. She has the incredible ability to make everyone feel welcome and comfortable around her. She can also make me laugh harder than anyone else in the entire world. She's such a strong person, and she doesn't let anything break her or get her down. I trust her so much. She's always there when I need her, whether it's to make me laugh or give me a shoulder to cry on. I know that there's nothing she wouldn't do for me or Jenna, and i'm so thankful to call her my best friend!

Jenna:

Jenna is an amazing person, and I'm so grateful that she moved here and joined our group of friends! She's without a doubt that nicest person I know. She's so sweet and I know I can talk to her about anything. She's super smart and hardworking, and she sometimes has to be the voice of reason for Hannah and me. She pushes us to be better in everything we do. We're always telling her that someone needs to make a movie about her life. Really, you wouldn't believe some of the stuff that happens to this girl! Luckily she's able to laugh at anything. She has such a hilarious and intelligent sense of humor. All she has to do is make a facial expression to get us to laugh, because we immediately know what she's thinking or feeling. I'm grateful for how accepting and loving jenna is. I know I can come to her with any problem and she'll talk me through it with a level head and without judgement. I know that she loves Hannah and me so much, and i'm so thankful to have her as a best friend!

<3 I Love You Girls!!

I hope everyone has a fun and safe holiday weekend! Don't forget to tell your besties how thankful you are to have them!

Happy Thanksgiving!

It's time to pay tribute to the man with the lightning scar.

You heard right, Harry Potter. Suddenly the time has come for part 1 of Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows. Not that the k3y three was keeping track or anything. Needless to say it's been long awaited. According to the countdown on the right side of this blog there is only two days until the midnight premiere! We will be camping out at the Scera if anyone would like to stop by and say hi, we would love it! I get slightly sentimental at the thought that after this there is only one more movie, and then its over. Not to worry though, modern medicine/technology has given us dvds and hard backed books to ensure that we can enjoy Harry Potter for the rest of our lives. Although Jenna, Tani, and I love every character in the series, take a look at some of our favorites-

Jenna-
Ginger, tall, and hilarious, Ron Weasley has been a vital character in the Harry Potter series and has won the hearts of many avid readers including Jenna. Ron follows Harry all the way to the end and risks his life countless times for his best friend. Where would Harry be without his best mate? I don't know, but it's pretty apparent that best friends really hit home with the k3y three. Favorite quote from Ron Weasley:
"Can I have a look at Uranus, too, Lavender?"

Britania-
Britania has always had a soft spot for Remus Lupin. He is the last remaining friend from a group of four that included Harry's dad James, Harry's godfather Sirius and the traitor Peter Pettegrew. He is a friend and mentor to Harry and remains loyal throughout the entire series. The fact that he's a werewolf doesn't stop him from getting married to Tonks. Thank goodness they name Harry godfather of their son Teddy. Favorite quote from Lupin:
"I am sorry too," said Lupin. "Sorry I will never know him...but he will know why I died and I hope he will understand I was trying to make a world in which he could live a happier life."

Hannah-
Of course everyone loves Harry Potter, but he has been my very favorite character from book one. He never complains about the fact that more than one person wants to kill him. He takes on an incredibly difficult task from Dumbledore and dedicates his life to bring down you know who. Props to Harry for being the most genuine and courageous character that we all grew up with. There are so many favorite quotes from Harry:
“He [Dumbledore] will only be gone from the school when none are loyal to him.”

"He was my mum and dad's best friend. He's a convicted murderer, but he's broken out of wizard prison and he's on the run. He likes to keep in touch with me, though...keep up with news...check if I'm happy..."

"Well, think back," said Harry. "Have you ever let it slip that you'd like to go out in public with the words 'My Sweetheart' round your neck?"

"This is night, Diddykins. That's what we call it when it goes all dark like this."

I don't want to start making a speech here, but on behalf of the k3y three, we would just like to thank J.K Rowling for making our childhood magical and filled with imagination.

Its beginning to look a lot like..the twilight zone?

Is it me or was yesterday the weirdest day ever? The weather was rainy and glum and the constant cloud cover made it feel like nighttime all day. I was in a constant state of confusion and fell asleep several times in class. I was also wearing two jackets cause it was freezing. I definitely don't love days like that. I do love fall though so I need to enjoy it while its here. If anyone else is feeling depressed by this odd weather don't worry, I have come up with some of the k3y three's favorite ways to get into the holiday spirit and out of the twilight zone.

(1) Scented Candles

Everyone likes to walk into a house that smells like pumpkin spice, caramel apples, or cinnamon. I know I do. I personally like to light them all over the place, just don't forget they're lit or your house will probably catch fire. Candles create a warm yummy smelling atmosphere that screams snuggle up. I would recommend checking out Bath and Body Works holiday candles.

(2) Paper Chain

How many days until Christmas? How are you gonna know if you don't have a paper chain counting down the days? Its useful to have one of these easy to make chains hanging in your bedroom so that you know exactly how much time you have to buy presents, eat candy canes, and lose sleep over excitement. Don't forget to remove 1 link per day so you get excited as Christmas gets closer and closer.

(3) Baked Goods

Baking around the holidays brings people closer together. Thats a fact. Pies, ginger bread cookies, sugar cookies, trifles, fruitcake, cheesecake, toffee, pudding, fudge, eggnog, custard, cupcakes, tarts, homemade ice cream, peppermint hot fudge sundaes, and holiday parfaits are just some of the delicious treats the holiday season has to offer. Throw on an apron, grab a couple besties, and bake to your hearts content. Check out Martha Stewart's holiday recipes for ideas! http://www.marthastewart.com/photogallery/holiday-desserts

(4) Holiday Movies

While you're smelling your scented candle, taking a link out of your paper chain, and enjoying your freshly baked sugar cookies, why not snuggle up to a fave holiday flick. Movies make us laugh and make us cry, but around the holidays, they put us in the spirit. Some of the k3y three's personal favorites are of course, The Holiday, Home Alone, The Grinch, Elf, A Christmas Story, The Santa Clause, A Christmas Carol, Miracle on 34th street, The Nightmare Before Christmas, The Family Man, and It's A Wonderful Life, to name a few. Snuggle up with a soft blanket, a cup of cocoa, and your best friends and start a marathon!

(5) Holiday Apparel

Whether you're preparing to build a snowman, kiss someone under a mistletoe, or eat thanksgiving dinner, wearing something that says "I'm a fan of the holidays" is essential to spreading cheer. You want to give off the right vibe and there are several subtle or not so subtle ways of doing this through the clothing you wear. For November I suggest easing into things with some festive socks. You might be the only one who can see them, but thats okay, cause every time you take off your shoes that day they'll make you smile and get you in the spirit. Along with socks you can start to wear scarves, hats, mittens, boots, coats, tights, and sweaters. My motto is: After thanksgiving day anything goes. Literally. This is when the serious holiday attire comes out of your closet and into your life. I'm talking, Christmas sweaters with blinking lights, red and white striped tights, throw in a Santa hat if you feel like you need to, it doesn't matter as long as you're excited and ready to spread cheer.

Well, those are our 5 holiday tips to help you get into the spirit. Hopefully you'll try a few out and remember, don't let the twilight zone get you down, stay cheerful, i'm sure there will be more tips to come!

Happy Bestfriending!

K3ys To Success

Alright so Britania here! :) I'm surely not going to make Hannah write every post so it's my turn to take a crack at it. Sitting here at work is pretty boring on saturdays, so obviously my mind wanders to things that bring a smile to my face during dull moments: kittens.. harry potter.. and my besties. Mostly I'm concerned for everyone in the world who doesn't have a best friend, because I don't even know how I would function without mine. "How do you guys have such a successful and fulfilling friendship?", you might ask. I know that one of our faithful followers, Aaron M., is always wondering what makes us work so well together. Well, I feel like there's some pretty important factors that go into having a fully fledged best friendship, and I'd like to share some pointers for those of you who just can't seem to get it right. Feel free to take notes and/or print this page for further referencing purposes.

1. Pet Names Are Crucial. I encourage you and your besties to come up with a few terms of endearment by which you can refer to each other. Here are a couple of our personal favorites:
  • baby
  • sweetie
  • j-mama (used for jenna)
  • b (used for yours truly)
  • h-dawg (used for hannah when we want to sound like boys)
  • little one
  • sleepy baby (used in different scenarios than just "baby")
  • meow mix

2. Stick To Routines. It's important to break out of your comfort zone occasionally, but it's also important to be really really comfortable with your besties always. So be sure to have a fun or relaxing routine you can fall back on when things get crazy.

For example, every thursday Hannah and I like to meet up at her house and relax on her couch with some tuna sandwiches and cheese sticks while watching America's Next Top Model.  We also enjoy eating out together at some of our favorite hot spots. Some of the restaurants that you can most likely find us at throughout the week: Red Robin, Wingers, Gurus, McD's, Burger Supreme.

3. Love Each Other More Than You Love Yourself. This may sound ridiculous, but it's something that the k3y three takes some serious pride in. My best friends are by far the most selfless and caring people I know. We work our hardest to go out of our way to make each other happy. For example, a couple of months ago during one of our routine sleepovers, I woke up in the night and decided to turn over on my other side. Hannah woke up panicked that I might be even slightly uncomfortable, and half asleep and without saying a word, she began to tickle my back. I'm betting that the way we care about each other more than anything in the world has something to do with the fact that we've never had a fight.

4. Know The Weird Things About Each Other, And Love Them. So it's safe to say that everyone has their strange quirks, and we are no exception. Each of us have different hobbies or personality traits that the others find weird, but we wouldn't have each other any other way. Seriously, normal is boring. Let's take a peek at some of our oddities:
  • Hannah: We all enjoy shopping, but Han takes it to the next level. She can be a bit impulsive at times (shoes are her weakness), but her purchases always end up being useful, especially when it comes to video and pc games. Hannah also has an alternate personality that very few people get to witness in real life.... Defensive Hannah. She may seem sweet and innocent, but do something to hurt her besties and she will transform.
  • Jenna: If there's one thing we know about our dear j-mama, it's that she doesn't follow the average person's methods of cell phone etiquette. Her phone is never not on silent, and it's nearly impossible to get a hold of her without calling 6 times and sending multiple texts. It's okay though, because when all else fails, we just show up at her house.
  • Britania: Yup. I'm weird and I know it. One thing about me that confuses my besties is my fetish with the NBA. I may be one of the only girls that gets 5-10 texts a day from ESPN. I love to be updated and know what's going on in the bball world. But my friends are real sweethearts about it, they even still take me to wingers during games so I can watch while we eat. :)

5. The most important k3y to having a best friend: Be A Best Friend. Literally nothing is more important than being there when your bestie needs you. Do whatever it takes to keep him/her happy, because you know he/she would do the same for you!

I hope these tips will prove useful for you when dealing with your best friends! Let us know if you have any of your own pointers to share! <3

You go girl(s)

College is gruel, and growing up is even grueler. My day is comprised of talking to college bound people of all ages who may, or most definitely are red neck, for six hours, attending a variety of college classes including Geology, (Geology rocks=pun really intended), throw in, work meetings, meeting with counselors, registering for next semester, seminars, appointments, taking and editing pictures, hours of homework, photo labs, tests, studying, planning my primary lesson, eating when i have time, suffering from sleep deprivation, squeezing in social time, watching antm, and making time for my best friends. Mostly by the end of the day morale is pretty low among the k3y three since Britania and Jenna are going through as much, if not more of what I go through on a daily basis. I know I speak for all of us when I say emotions run high, literally I could cry at almost any given moment. I could eat chocolate for every meal and I'd rather be snuggling in a Christmas sweater at all times. As always my best friends are there throughout the day to keep me as upbeat as possible with their texts, calls, and facebook comments. Its really no surprise that we've developed a weekly routine that most weeks happens more than once.
